Algae exist in almost all water environments on the earth, and together with aquatic animals and microorganisms, constitute a rich and healthy aquatic ecological environment. Humans have been known to feed on algae or to treat special diseases for thousands of years, but it is only in recent decades that we have used algae as an object of other production for large-scale artificial cultivation/farming. Compared with other countries in the world, my country's algae industry has a large scale and a large number of employees, but there are also shortcomings in many aspects, which restrict further development in the future. In September 2017, the Department of Agriculture, Rural Affairs, Science and Education formally established and launched the 50th modern agricultural industry technology system-algae industry technology system. The 19 post-scientist teams distributed across the country and the 11 comprehensive experimental station teams distributed in the main algae producing areas in my country have taken up their posts, opening a new journey to promote the development of my country's algae industry in a new era.

The first briefing on the algae industry technology system was written by scientists at some relevant positions in the algae industry technology system and the head of the comprehensive experimental station, and gave an overview of the main economic algae industry in my country.
